Blessed are the Elderly

Pope Leo XIV remembers us in prayer on this The Fifth World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly

Dear Lord,

In this Jubilee Year of Hope, we ask that you gently bestow a special blessing on all older people. Pour out your love upon each one, renew their courage and fill their hearts with deep peace. Bless them with the gifts of your Holy Spirit and deepen their awareness of your presence with them each moment of each day. Move the hearts of all to reach out in compassion to be with and listen to their life stories. May we learn from their wisdom and honour their presence in our families, church and global communities. We pray that all governments uphold the dignity of each one and protect them in the decisions that they make. May we your followers advocate for the rights of the elderly, be a voice for the voiceless and agents of transformative change that witnesses to the healing, liberating and empowering love of God.
